Is SunScout free?

Yes — the core experience is free forever: the 3D light preview with real ridge shadows, sun & moon arcs, the day timetable, the sky compass, ten photo calculators and the dark-night finder. No account, no ads, no tracking.

SunScout Pro is an optional one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks the planning-depth tools: sky calendar (eclipses & meteor showers), star chart, peak identification, AR field finder, light-pollution heatmap, weather & aurora outlook, tides, rainbow finder, sky-event reminders, unlimited saved spots, KML / orbit export and global terrain downloads.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the Pro screen and tap "Restore purchase". Purchases are tied to your Apple ID, so restoring works on any device signed in to the same account.

Why does the terrain look flat or blank?

Terrain and satellite imagery are downloaded on demand. Make sure you have an internet connection; the first load of a new area can take a few seconds.

Does the app work offline?

Areas you have already visited are cached on your device, so the sun timeline and FPV view keep working offline. Live weather requires a connection.

About the wind reading and drone safety

The wind shown in SunScout is modelled weather at roughly 120 m altitude (typical drone cruise height), which can differ sharply from what you feel on the ground. The wind warning is a planning aid only — it is not a flight-clearance check. Always verify local airspace restrictions, no-fly zones, and aviation regulations with official sources before flying. Fly decisions are always the pilot's responsibility.
